What is Coaching?

For some time it’s been believed that Life Coaching is only about working on the here & now and the future. Looking at where a person is right now as their starting point and where they want to get to, or what they want to achieve in a specific area of their life. Coaching was not about looking back into the past however this belief is changing and so it should. Why? Because many of the reasons a person cannot move forward lie hidden in their sub-conscious mind and are directly related to their past.

The vast majority of our blocks are thoughts or beliefs that come from our early childhood. They are usually instilled in us by the time we reach 7 years of age. These are referred to as limiting beliefs and are a belief that we hold as a truth which therefore becomes a stumbling block for us. We need to go back into the past and ask, why do you believe that and where did you learn that from? For a limiting belief to be true it must be fact, through coaching we can delve into your past, understand limiting beliefs and clear them so you can move forward and achieve your goals.

This is why Life Coaching is changing. Looking into your past is vital to achieve real and lasting transformation and be able to move forward and attain the goals in your present & future life that you desire.

What Coaching is Not!

Coaching is not the same as talk therapy or giving advice. As your coach I consider myself your guide, I’m there to partner with you and support you and sometimes challenge you, with love of course :). I truly believe each and every one of us knows deep down what we need and who we are. Often we’ve lost our way and simply need someone to help us tap into ourselves, to access our inner voice and to trust and listen to it. YOU hold all the answers within you that you seek, as your coach I’m there to guide and support you in accessing those answers.

Coaching is a partnership and as your guide I can assist you to unlock answers and find your way, but as with any partnership there is work for both parties to do. This means there is work you will need to undertake, this may be within the session or as homework. This can take the form of trying new practices such as meditation, mindfulness, journaling or other tools I feel would be appropriate to your specific needs and that you are comfortable with.

Why Coaching?

Those who undertake coaching see the value of the partnership and the support gained in understanding themselves both in the past and present sense to gain clarity for the future life they seek. These are individuals who have real strength of character and the commitment to go after goals in a planned manner. Depending on your life experiences, coaching may present you with challenging moments that sometimes can be surprising, this is because up to 95% of our early memories are locked in the sub-conscious mind. If we need to delve into this it can be difficult but once cleared it allows one to move forward with renewed clarity.
